How to choose a digital slide viewer?
Slide viewers are usually bundled with the scanner hardware, and it is natural to use that software for digital slide visualization. However, when using multiple scanner brands in a lab, or when using digital or computational pathology without scanners, the choice of a third-party viewer can be challenging and depends very much on the individual use case. For example, in clinical settings, high image quality and the display of meta data such as barcodes are important, while for research, annotation options might be more critical. Further, depending on where the digital slides are stored, a web-viewer is favorable to an on-prem viewer.
