Favourite EV topic: EV heterogeneity! Everybody, who has already met me at one of the GSEV meetings, knows that I always keep asking about large EVs. I have always been fascinated by how EVs, although they sometimes differ only in a couple of nanometers, can show such profound differences in their origin, composition and function. Unfortunately, this fact is currently often neglected, but it only means that there is still a lot to uncover!
Why did you join the GSEV board? When I participated in the first big international meeting on EVs in Gothenburg 2012, I quickly became fascinated by all the enthusiasm of this new research field, and I still am. Being part of the GSEV board puts me at the wonderful position to be able to interact with all the EV researchers across Germany at a much closer level and allows me to actively promote and further establish our joint interest in EVs in the national and international research landscape.
My aims for the current period as board member: When I look back at what we have already achieved as the GSEV board since October 2023, I am truly happy about the progress we have made in strengthening our national EV network and supporting our junior scientists. Our efforts have not only increased the transparency of our work but also enhanced the visibility of our members, helping them to showcase their research and expand their professional networks. Looking ahead, my main aim is to further increase the visibility and impact of our still young society within the national and international scientific landscape. This includes fostering collaborations with established research societies and working towards greater recognition at the political level. I believe these steps are crucial for establishing EV science as a recognized research field and for paving the way to secure support for future projects.
